Healthy Summer Grilling
Everyone loves to fire up the backyard grill for a summer meal and those of us over 50 are certainly no exception. In fact we may even cook out more than most. But how many of you know that grilling brings a potential health risk? Certain foods cooked on the grill at high temperatures can increase your risk for cancer.
Protein Basics
Like carbohydrates and fats, proteins are needed for good health at all ages. Proteins are structurally similar to carbohydrates and fats – containing carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen. The difference is that protein holds an additional structural component, nitrogen. Nitrogen is necessary for the body to function; life as we know it wouldn’t exist without nitrogen.

Personally, I have dubbed donuts “crispy crime”. Why you ask? Donuts, bagels and other pastries may taste great going down, but offer little in providing satiety- the feeling of fullness that food gives us to prevent overeating at our next meal or snack.

Well, unfortunately a major cause of back pain that is commonly overlooked comes from the front side – not the back.
